BOTULINUM TOXIN (BOTOX) COSMETIC INJECTION AT MELBOURNE CLINICAL LASER
Botox has been used for medical treatment for more than 50 years. It has been used for cosmetic purposes since 1997. More than 11 million people around the world have had Botox injections. It is now widely used for facial cosmetic treatment in the area of the masseter muscle, crow’s feet, forehead and frown lines. Other areas such as the lower leg can be treated with this cosmetic injection, and Melbourne patients may even benefit from Botox treatment for excess sweating (hyperhidrosis) or migraine. After Botox injection, patients should not take Aspirin or Ibuprofen as those medications can increase bruising. Patients should also avoid strenuous activity for 24 hours afterwards as it may reduce the efficacy of Botox.
DERMAL FILLERS AT MELBOURNE CLINICAL LASER (JUVEDERM)
Dermal filler, also known by the active ingredient name, hyaluronic acid, is commonly used for smoothing fine lines and wrinkles. The most commonly used dermal fillers at Melbourne Clinical Laser are from the Juvéderm collection, manufactured by Allergan.
Dermal fillers are used for the nose, cheek, lip and chin area. It is also used for the nasolabial fold.
WHO CANNOT HAVE THE DERMAL INJECTION?
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you are advised not to have any dermal filler injections. Melbourne patients should always discuss treatment with their regular GP if they have any concerns about their treatment plan.
If you are undergoing immunosuppressive therapy, have cancer or a history of excessive scarring, you are not a suitable candidate for dermal filler treatment.
WHAT SHOULD I AVOID AROUND THE TIME OF TREATMENT?
Before cosmetic injection at the Melbourne Clinical Laser centre, stop using anti-inflammatory medications that can prolong bleeding such as Aspirin or Ibuprofen. Please advise us of any medications you are currently taking, and never cease use of any medications your doctor has recommended without first consulting your GP. Patients should avoid strenuous exercise and alcoholic beverages within the first 24 hours following treatment. You should also minimise exposure to extensive sun or heat.
